Bobby Ray Sams

Bobby Sams, 82 of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 2, 2024. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6969 East I-40, Amarillo, TX on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held January 5, 2024 at 2 pm in the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery with Corey Sams of Cliffside Baptist Church officiating.

Bobby was born in Littlefield, TX to Woodrow Wilson and Lillie Mae Sams on January 13, 1941. He grew up in Buena Vista and graduated from Borger High School in 1959. He married Sibbie Lois Brown on August 19, 1964 in Phillips, TX.

He worked in Petroleum Transport for over 30 years and served in management at Groendyke and United Petroleum Transport. In his retirement years he worked in security with Amarillo National Bank and Bell Helicopter. In his spare time, he loved golfing, trout fishing, working outdoors and tinkering in his shop. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand or offer help where he could.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harlan and Gene Sams and grandson Daniel Ausbrooks.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 59 years Sibbie, his daughter Sandra Ausbrooks and husband Denny of Amarillo, his son Bill Sams and wife Tina of Corinth, TX, his brother Jerry Sams and wife Judy, of Amarillo TX Grand-children, Melissa Phanavanh and husband Damian, Matthew Sams and wife Hannah, Morgan Sams and Caleb Sams and great grandchildren, Paidyn, Pailey and Pryor Ausbrooks.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Caleb and Matthew Sams, Denny and Paidyn Ausbrooks and Damian Phanavanh.

Memorials may be given to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Bobby’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of BSA Hospice and Five Points Nursing and Rehabilitation.
