Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery North Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Robert Field officiating.
Mr. Mathes was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Amarillo to Roy E. and Viola Mathes.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two brothers, J.R. Mathes and wife Knoxie of Amarillo and Guy Mathes and wife Norma of Hillsboro; special niece and confidante, Tessa Mathes of Amarillo; a host of other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and by companion, a cat named Dog.
