Carolyn Marie Connelly was born on December 1, 1941 in Amarillo to Mike and Germaine Connelly, and passed from this life on April 16, 2026. The oldest of seven children born to this union, Carolyn spent her lifetime in Amarillo.
She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1960, was an exemplary member of Future Homemakers of America, and was selected Donna of the Month.
Immediately after high school graduation she began working as a bookkeeper for R. W. Adams Oil Company, and this began a successful career in accounting. Carolyn worked for several oil companies, including Mesa Petroleum, and Billy Campsey CPA firm.
She married John Lockwood in May 1993, and became mother to John's children John Lee, James and April. Carolyn and John were quite a couple, and enjoyed fishing in areas around Amarillo. At the time they renovated their first home, John laughingly nicknamed Carolyn "Crowbar" because of her remodeling talents! John preceded her in death in January 2010.
Carolyn was talented in all the skills of homemaking. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She loved gardening and was especially proud of her prize tomatoes. She was a beautiful hostess and looked forward to entertaining, but she was especially known for her excellent baking. Carolyn showed her love through gifts from her kitchen, and the most fortunate received her offerings of beautiful cakes. This was indeed her greatest talent, and one she truly enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Germaine Connelly, and her husband Johnny.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, John Lee, James and April; sister Linda Bingham and husband Butch; brother Robert Connelly and wife Cynthia; sister Anita Sims and husband Steve; brother Michael Connelly and wife Judy; sister Brenda Bell and husband Don; sister Mary Robinson and husband Rex; sisters-in-law Sharon Anderson and Sally Johnson. Carolyn loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a number of special nieces and nephews.
Carolyn's family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for her with devotion: Stephanie, Kimberly and Tonya from Heavenly Home, and Natalie, Chaplain with Enhabit Hospice.
She will be missed, and will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
