

Charles Richard Widick, 61, of Amarillo died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010.Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with James Baker of Primitive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rick, also known as "Dancing Bear," was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Amarillo to Harry and Anne Widick. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1967 and went on to attend West Texas State University. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on Sept. 26, 1969, served as a first lieutenant for two tours in Vietnam until February 1972 and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1977. Rick married Sandra Diane Bussey on Sept. 1, 1967, in Amarillo, and together they had two children. His career as a distinguished salesman is well remembered. Rick was a vibrant and entertaining friend to many. Laughter followed him wherever he went, and he always had a sparkle in his eye. His orneriness will be missed. His example of loving life has been an encouragement and strength to us all. Rick was loved and cherished, and will be missed by many ... We love you, Bear!Survivors include two children, Christi Jenkins and husband Mark of Alamogordo, N.M., and Bracken Jackson and wife Gwen of Wasilla, Alaska; a brother, William "Bill" Widick and wife Janie of Wildorado; two granddaughters, Ashley and Shelby Jenkins; several nieces; a nephew; and many friends, family and cousins, by whom he was much loved.
