

Charlie W. Kennedy, 88 of Amarillo passed away June 1, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Pastor Danny Lucas officiating. Services are under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Volleys for Veterans. Charlie was born in Concord, North Carolina on November 12, 1927 to Travis and Doshie Kennedy. He was part of a blended family that consisted of 19 children. He served his country in the United States Army. He moved to Amarillo and married Carol Williamson. He worked for the Amarillo Air Force Base until it closed then he went to work for Pantex Mason Hanger where he retired. Charlie attended Hillcrest Baptist Church, Bykota Baptist Church and then 2nd Baptist Church where he was an active member of the choir and he also taught Sunday school. He was loved by many. He will be missed not only by friends but by loved ones as well. He was preceded in death by: wife Carol and his parents Travis and Doshie Kennedy. Charlie is survived by his daughter Charlene Blackwelder of Concord, N.C.; step sons Terry Williamsons of Terrell Tx.; Dorman Williamson of Terrell, Tx; brother Archie Kennedy of Concord N.C; Sisters Peggy Gardner and Mary Francis Brunau both of Concord N.C; Stella Willis of Marysville C.A.; Colon Wall of Morehead City, N.C.. Four grandchildren of N.C. and two of Dallas, TX. Several great grandchildren in N.C. and One in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
