Jim was born 7-01-1947 in New Hampshire and got to Texas as fast as he could! He spent his childhood in Amarillo Texas. He was a well-rounded athlete, participating in football, baseball, basketball and track. His son, Chad, would marvel at all of his ribbons and metals. He strived to be an excellent runner, just like his Dad.
Jim is a veteran and served in the Army. He was a medic and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country, he returned to Amarillo where he met his future wife, Sharon, while dragging Polk Street. Jim and Sharon married in 1968. They relocated to Big Spring and then to Midland Texas where he worked for Midland Memorial Hospital. They welcomed their son, Chad, in 1972. While Chad was a baby, Jim worked and took night classes to earn a degree in business. The family spent a lot of time at the lake with Jim’s parents, who were avid fishermen. Their daughter, Anessa, was born in 1980. Jim took a position as a salesman at Bancroft Paper Company. This was the start of his successful career in sales and management. In 1985, the family made their way back to Amarillo and were happy to be reunited with family and lifelong friends. Jim enjoyed playing and coaching softball, going camping, fishing and bird hunting, shooting skeet and playing golf. He never missed a track meet or volleyball game and coached many of his kids’ teams during their childhood. He was Chad’s biggest fan as he followed in his footsteps breaking records in track and cross country. He even made him a deal that they would go get a tattoo together if Chad made it to State, which he did! Another job opportunity came up in Lubbock in 1995. Jim became district manager of Pollock Paper Company. He became a proud grandpa in 1999 and again in 2008 and 2012. He made other moves to Wichita Falls and ended up moving to Zapata where he spent several valuable years with his parents. He and his parents then eventually made the move to Temple. The thing that has brought the most joy to his life over the years, has been supporting his grandchildren Rowan, Caleb, Ella and Violet in their sports and activities. He loves cheering on Texas Tech Football and the Kansas City Chiefs. He is hard to beat at cards and fast track. He is an amazing dad and grandpa ❤️
