Donna was born December 11, 1926, in Eskridge Ks to Roy and Thelma Morrison. She grew up in Topeka Ks. and spent most of her life there until she married Ray Lewis is September 1947, after his discharge from the Navy in 1946. In 1953 they moved to Amarillo where she was employed by Phillips Petroleum and later Sears and Roebucks. She spent 25 years with Sears until her retirement. Ray worked for Santa Fe until his death in 1986. Donna loved to go RV’ing with her husband and friends, building their retirement cabin in Colorado, and trying to visit all the grandkids. After Ray’s death she filled her days and nights with her fellow Sears’s employees, and numerous good friends. Going to pot luck dinners and chili cook off’s, playing cards, and sharing all the yummy dishes she prepared.
She loved the birthday parties where they would celebrate every birthday for each month on one day. It made for a lively party and many funny birthday cards. Mom loved to travel and I cringed every time she called me to say she was headed to California by car, by herself, in her 70’s. Our mother loved life. Living, loving and sharing. Each person was special to her. She was loved by all she touched and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Randy of Antonito, Colorado, Rick of Spokane, Washington, 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren
The family suggest memorials be sent to The Sears Pioneer Club 6402 Alpine Amarillo, Texas 79109.
