

Doris Gremillion Cooper, 85 of Amarillo passed away February 11, 2013. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Doris Theresa Gremillion was born August 12, 1927 in Wickliffe, Louisiana to Emile and Eunice Gremillion. She married Clarence Cooper on June 21, 1944 in New Orleans. In 1950 they moved to Amarillo. She was a homemaker, raising six children. Doris worked briefly for Levi Strauss and Western Uniform. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and prior to a stroke in 1994, she enjoyed working in her yard. Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Doris was preceded in death by a son, Lester Cooper and daughter-in-law, Linda Cooper; grandchildren, Renia and Michael; son-in-law, Jeff Schwegler; sister, Bertha and three brothers, Eugene, Sidney and Emile, Jr. Doris is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clarence Cooper of Amarillo; five children, Sylvia Monk and husband John of Waskom, Texas, James Darryl Cooper and wife Barbara of Leesburg, Texas, Clarence Cooper, Jr. and wife Debbie of Fritch, Texas, Brenda Cooper of Amarillo and Stelcie Schwegler of Buffalo, New York; brother, Michael Gremillion of Ventress, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
