Dorotha Elizabeth Goodwin Mitchell

Dorotha Elizabeth Goodwin Mitchell, 83 of Amarillo passed away May 30, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Dorotha was born December 15, 1929 in Walters, Oklahoma in Cotton County to Cary and Gladys Goodwin. She attended grade school in Walters and moved to Amarillo in 1942 where she went to school at Elizabeth Nixon and Amarillo High School. Dorotha was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church for approximately 50 years. She worked for Levi Strauss and Co. from 1966 to 1984 and retired as Product Integrity Manager. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and a sister. Dorotha is survived by a son, Joe L. Mitchell and wife Mindy of Amarillo; daughters, Carrie Dawn Greco and husband Anthony “Chip” of Amarillo and Lois Diann Rech and husband Ed of Corpus Christi; 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 4 great-granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons; also by 3 sisters, 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be sent to City Church and/or to Grand Avenue Baptist Church, Food Drive Fund. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to give special appreciation to Dr. Merki, Dr. Marupudi and the staff at BSA Hospice for their care, love and support they gracefully showed to Dorotha.
