

Earl Ray Meadows, Age 87, passed from this life on December 18, 2013, to be with his Lord and Savior. Visitation will be Saturday, December 21, 2013, 9:00 to 11:00 AM, with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Chapel and Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.
Earl was born to William Oliver and Mary Alice Meadows, February 9th, 1926, at Parnell, Texas. Earl was the 10th child of 11 children, 3 sisters and 8 brothers. He graduated from Estellene High School in 1944, and immediately entered the Armed Forces to fight for his country in the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II.
After completing basic Training, Earl served in the SW Pacific Champaign on the USS Sub Chaser 999. When this ship was lost near Okinawa, he was then assigned to the USS Landing Craft 441.
Earl first met his wife, Dean, at Estelline High School, and when he returned from the service, they were married at Decatur, Texas on August 10th, 1946. They were married for 67 years, and had two children; Linda Rae (Meadows) Morgan, and Danny Frank Meadows.
Earl worked 34 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a Tour Superintendent and retired in 1981. In 2006, Earl and Dean moved to Midland, Texas to be closer to their loving family.
Earl is preceded by his parents, 3 sisters and 8 brothers. He is survived by his Wife, Dean; Daughter, Linda and her husband, Jerry Morgan; Son, Danny and his wife, Sheila Meadows; 6 Grandsons; 1 Granddaughter; and 11 Great Grandchildren.
