Ellen Dyste Goodson, 85, of Amarillo died Monday, May 30, 2011. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church ELCA with the Rev. John Watson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Goodson was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Forman, N.D. She married John "Jack" Goodson in 1951, and they lived in Great Falls, Mont., before moving to Amarillo in 1960. Mrs. Goodson was a retired teacher of special education and a devoted member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Goodson. Survivors include three sons, Larry Goodson of Dallas, Mark Goodson of Friendswood and Gary Goodson of New Braunfels; three daughters, Janell Dillard of Parker, Colo., and Denise Jones and Laurie Schmidt, both of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 3500 S. Bowie St., Amarillo, TX 79118; or Odyssey Hospice, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
