Ernest M. "Ernie" Mahaffee

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday January 21, 2013 in Bell Avenue Church of Christ with Dean Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Mr. Mahaffee was born June 8, 1951, in Amarillo to Earsey and Jerlene Mahaffee. He attended Amarillo High School. In 1969, he joined the Navy, served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1973. Mr. Mahaffee worked for Pantex in 1978 and retired in 2012 after 35 years of service. Ernie enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, and he also enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Shane Mahaffee; and a brother-in-law, Ray Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Gayla Mahaffee of Amarillo; two sons, Kevin Ray Mahaffee and wife Renee and Clifford Nathaniel Mahaffee, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Jerry Ann Rhea of Amarillo, Altalona Holler and husband Keith of Glendale, Ariz., and Sharon Dieterman and husband Andrew of Amarillo; a brother; E.E. “Skip” Mahaffee and wife Hannelore of Kerrville; a grandson, Kaizer Ray Mahaffee of Amarillo; his father-in-law, Donald Scrivner; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews
