An informal visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 8am to 5pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home; 6969 E. Interstate 40. Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 10am in the Memorial Park Cemetery’s Garden of Cross with Micah Meurer presiding.
Frances was born in Comanche, OK to James Delter Hawkins and Lora Mae Kyser Hawkins on May 22, 1943. She moved to Amarillo grew up in a large family. As a teenager, Frances met Frank while working as a car hop. He was stationed at the Amarillo Airbase and was in the Air Force. They married and moved to Ohio where they began to raise their 5 children; Faith, Lora, Frank jr., Mark, and Matt. In June of 1980 they moved back to Amarillo and continued to raise a family and began having grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Frances worked for Toot n Totum for more than 10 years. She worked at Eastridge Elementary in cafeteria and then Hagee Day Care cafeteria. She then started a Home Day Care in which she was able to dedicate her time to her grandchildren and later great grandchildren. Over the next 17 years she not only helped raise her family she also raised and touched the lives of many families through her day care.
Family meant everything to Frances. She was married to the Love of her Life Frank for 52 years when he passed away. She continued to be the glue and back bone to all her family. She taught Sunday school at Light House Baptist church for years and loved the Lord. She loved making her crafts. She will be missed beyond belief for all that was privileged to have had her cross paths in their life.
Frances was preceeded in death by her Mom and Dad, husband Frank, brother James, daughter in law Regina, brother in law George Gulish; and granddaughter Christian Nicole, and grandson Zion.Those left to cherish her memories are her sons Franklin D. Scaggs Jr and wife Tanja, Mark Anthony Scaggs and wife Liane, Matthew Wayne Scaggs and wife Jeana; daughters Faith Ann Scaggs Hawthorne and husband Jeff, Lora Jacqleene Scaggs Bills and husband Dennis. Frances also leaves behind her brothers Johnny Hawkins, Barry Hawkins and wife Peggy, Jimmy Hawkins, sisters Nancy Hawkins Gulish, Susie Hawkins Marthaller and husband Bill and Judy Hawkins; as well as 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
