Gwendolyn Roberts

She married Lavern Richard Roberts on June 2, 1948. They made their home in Clovis, N.M., Canyon and Amarillo.

She loved her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved everyone's children and worked in church nurseries at Sandia Baptist Church in Clovis, First Christian Church in Amarillo and Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, when she retired to be caretaker for "PePaw" her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; a brother; and her husband, Lavern, in 2001.

Survivors include six daughters, Lynda McCollum, Debbie Armstrong and husband Alan, and Carolyn Spencer, all of Amarillo, Donna Roberts of Clovis, Janie Henthorn and husband Steve of Del City, Okla., and Diane Stokes and husband Mark of Hereford; two sisters, Earnestine Hester and husband Voyne of Galesburg, Ill., and Naomi Meese of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren, Chuck Melton and wife Charlana and Galen Davis and wife Carrie, all of Dumas, Mike McCollum and wife Lori of Austin, James Dickson of San Diego, Frankie Henthorn and wife Mandi of Moore, Okla., David Wayne Dickson of San Antonio, Adam Armstrong, Crystal Pryer and husband Jeramy and April Reep and husband Jerod, all of Amarillo, Kara Freeman and husband Matt of Bushland, Sheena Stokes and Heather Stokes, both of Hereford, Traci Day and husband Danny of Oklahoma City, Tobi Stansell and husband Max of Clovis, and Kori Nagle and husband James of Niceville, Fla.; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
