

Harold Worth Reed was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Danville, Ill., to Charles and Hazel Reed. His father passed away when he was 2 years old, and he moved to Mooseheart, Ill., where he graduated from high school.
After graduating, he moved to Chicago with his brother, Charles. He was the youngest of four. He married Dorothy Bird on April 22, 1942, and shortly after was called to duty serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, in which he received the Purple Heart, Bronze and Silver stars.
He returned home in 1945 and was a machinist for Binks Manufacturing Co. for 30 years and also with Bell Helicopter in Amarillo for 10 years.
He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great-great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Charles, Robert and James.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Reed; a son, Harold F. Reed and loving companion Connie of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; a daughter, Rita M. Eakes of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Rita R. Eakes, Mark Eakes and Kimberley Eakes, all of Amarillo, Lori Reed Wilson and husband Bob of Winfield, Ill., and Daniel Clayton and wife Melisa of Tucson, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
