Irma Ray Rutherford was born on February 29, 1924 in Fannin County, Texas to Jasper and Beulah Smith. She graduated from White Deer High School in 1942 where she was known as “Smittie”. During high school she played on a women’s soft ball team. Mrs. Rutherford married Cliff Rutherford on August 15, 1942 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was a book keeper for Coca Cola for twenty years. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing and hanging out the local Dairy Queen in Groom. Mrs. Rutherford was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groom. She was also preceded in death by three Brothers: Jasper Smith, JR., Glen Smith and Allan Smith. Survived by daughters; Glenda Rhynehart and husband Curt of Amarillo and Janette Rutherford of Groom. Grandsons; J.R. Rhynehart and Colwyn Dunlap Six Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great Grandchild And numerous nieces and nephews
