Mr. Rhoads was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Decatur to James and Helen Rhoads. He was raised in Decatur and Lamesa. He served in the Army National Guard and the Air Force; he was honorably discharged after six years of service. Mr. Rhoads married Raydene “Dee” Blades on July 10, 1971. During his early adulthood, Mr. Rhoads was a radio announcer in Lamesa, Dalhart and Lovington, N.M. He retired from Oldham County as a blademan after 25 years. Mr. Rhoads cherished his wife and was very proud of his children and their accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Rhoads and Richard Rhoads.
Survivors include his wife, Raydene “Dee” Y. Rhoads of Bushland; three daughters, Vickie Gilliam and Tammy Holeman, both of Amarillo, and RaQuel Renshaw of Bushland; two sons, Danny Renshaw of Lubbock and Keenan Renshaw of Amarillo; a brother, Clyde Rhoads of Burnet; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
