He was born September 11, 1948 in Meeker, Colorado to Delbert and Stella Ingersoll in a log cabin on a ranch. The stone fireplace was built by Will Rogers and Wiley Post. He attended high school in Friona, Texas,
Jimmy joined the Army in 1969, during the Vietnam War. He was a combat-medical specialist, and received several medals in service. Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal Valor, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Medical Badge, Sharpshooter, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart and the Sliver Star (3rd highest award for valor), which he received while dragging wounded soldiers off the field while injured and losing blood. He passed out after being shot two times and wounded with shrapnel by a rocket propelled grenade after saving several men after losing blood.
Jimmy lived and worked in several places as a Peace Officer, both in Oklahoma and Texas. He lived in Amarillo for several years and worked as a TSTI Administrator.
Professed his faith in Jesus and a member of the United Pentecost Church.
Survived by a daughter Kim Smith, 2 sons Casey Ingersoll of McLean, Texas and Chad Ingersoll of Amarillo, Texas, Orlando, Jazz, Christian, Jayci, Tell, Courtney, Jordan, Corey Jr., Denae, T.J., Kyler, an many family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, two bothers Allen Stewart and Rodney Ingersoll. A son Corey Ingersoll, a grand children Kinsley, Shea and Colton.
Jimmy Ingersoll 73 of Amarillo passed from this world August 23, 2022.
