

J.L. Little, 87 of Amarillo passed away January 16, 2014. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Osage Fundamental Baptist Church with Rev. David Speed officiating. J.L. was born to John B. and Arrie Slaughter Little on July 25, 1926 in Munday, Texas. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He married the love of his life, Helen Jackson, on July 17, 1948 at Squaw Mountain Assembly of God Church near Jacksboro, Texas. They moved to Dumas in 1950 where he worked at the Shamrock Gas Plant. Moving to Amarillo in 1952, he was initially employed by Johnson and Dick Appliance Service. He went on to work for Circle N Appliance, followed by A-1 Appliance. He finished his career at the VA Medical Center as a boiler plant operator and retired from there approximately 17 years ago. He was one of the charter members of Osage Fundamental Baptist Church in Amarillo. He was a selfless brother, devoted husband, loving father, and a Christian role model for his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved the Lord and inspired his entire family by his Christian example. He will be well remembered, and deeply missed by all. J.L. was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jewell Little Burgan, Orabelle Little Cartwright, Emily Little Rhoten, Irene Little West, and Sue Little Beckelic; brothers, Ray, Olan, J.D., Elmer, J.B., Truman, Jerry, and Edwin. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Little of Amarillo; son, Randy A. Little and wife Wendy of Amarillo; daughter, Pamela Jean Little Dorsey and husband Danny of Amarillo; brothers, Bennie Little of Jacksboro, Texas and Paul E. Little and wife Kay of Memphis, Tennessee; grandsons, Michael Little and wife Nanthida, Ryan Dorsey and Cory Dorsey all of Amarillo, Clinton Dorsey and wife Christina of Grapevine, Texas and Bradley Dorsey and wife Rebekah of Westlake Village, California; granddaughters, Ashley Little Shedd and husband Samuel, Rachel Dorsey Ledbetter and husband Benjamin, Victoria Dorsey, Kaylee Dorsey, Avonlea Dorsey and Brooklyn Dorsey all of Amarillo and Audrey Dorsey Russell and husband Cavin of Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kyler Little of Amarillo, Nicholas and Jonah Dorsey of Grapevine, Texas, Alexander, Ethan, Addison, Brecken and William Dorsey all of Westlake Village, California, Dakota, Keely, Logan, Lincoln and Hannah Russell all of Arlington, Texas and Tyler and Kolton Ledbetter of Amarillo.
