Kenneth Charles Bernson, 63 of Amarillo passed away April 9, 2015. Celebration of Life services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 at Hillside Christian Church South Campus, 6901 S. Bell with Pastor Jerry Davey officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Kenny was born December 15, 1951 in Amarillo to George and Patricia Bernson. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1970 and then served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp until 1974. Kenny married Michelle McCormick in Amarillo in 1980. He worked for XCEL Energy from 1990 until the time of his death. Kenny worked as a heavy equipment operator, a truck driver but most importantly, for the past 8 years he was Safety Coordinator. He took his job very serious and safety was his passion. One characteristic that Kenny was known for was being a very well respected man; at work and every other aspect of his life. Vacation to Kenny was him and Michelle getting on the Harley and going cross-country. He was a people person who collected friends and never made enemies. The most important thing in life was his family, and he cherished the time he spent with them all. He will forever be missed and never forgotten. Kenny is survived by his wife, Michelle Bernson; his parents, George and Patricia Bernson; daughters, Amy Bernson, Jennifer Montgomery and husband Joe and Jami Brannon and husband Justin; brothers, Tom, Jim, Hal and Patrick Bernson; grandchildren, Lola Montgomery and Blaine and Grayson Brannon; also by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be sent in lieu of flowers to the United Way, Evelyn Rivers Christmas Project, Snack-Pack for Kids or to a favorite charity of choice.
