

Lonnie Ray Roby, 81, former Mayor of Hedley, TX, and retired corrections officer, died January 26, 2022. Services will be held Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, with Dale Miller officiating. The family will receive friends on January 31, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East.
He was born in Edinburgh, TX on April 26, 1940 and resided with the love of his life, Virginia (Topsy) Roby and his beloved cats, Tweety-bird, Button and Blackie.
He served in the Navy for six years. He also served on the city council, was a volunteer fireman and volunteered helping the local senior citizens. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy and these memories will remain in ours forever.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Virginia (Topsy) Roby; two sisters, Melba McRae Berry and Nora Lee Burris, a son Darren Roby and wife Carol; five daughters, Dianne Smith and husband Gene, Darla Sanders and husband Clint, Glenda Rowe and husband Garry, Kiann (K.K.) Owens and husband Matt and Rebecca (Becky) Florio and husband Mike. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Messenger, his father, Tony Roby, a brother Darrell Selman, a daughter Divina Roby, and sons, Axton Osborne and Jimmy N. Bellar.
