Lonny Mitchell

Lonny Mitchell of Amarillo passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday July 8, 2023. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 Bell St. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 10 am at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home Pioneer Chapel. Lonny was born in San Augustine, Texas to Lon and Etha Mitchell.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a loving, kind and stubborn hard working man. He married the love of his life Evelyn Forsythe on November 16, 1973 they would have celebrated 50 wonderful years together. In his free time he loved fishing and hunting with his family. He was an avid reader and loved a good game of 42 and dominoes. He retired from ASARCO in 2003 after 30 + years. He will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Faye Carter; Shirley Fields; Joyce Calkins and Bonnie Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife; his sons Chad Mitchell and wife Brenda and Lon Mitchell. Granddaughter Peyton Mitchell and sister Christine along with many other loving family and friends
