

L.W. “Buddy” Goodson, 74 of Amarillo passed away February 2, 2013. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Buddy was born March 8, 1938 in Mineola to John and Nina Mae Goodson. He owned and operated Goodson Construction for over 50 years. He loved to build dune buggies and race cars and owned a car that raced at The Amarillo Speed Bowl. He built Route 66 Motor Speedway here in Amarillo and was at one time the President of the Amarillo Buggy Club. He enjoyed visiting Lake Fork and with his fishing buddy, Jackie Austin and also loved to spend time watching NASCAR with the Langham’s. Buddy never met a stranger, was very well known and was loved by all. Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Goodson; his parents; and brother, Doug Goodson. Buddy is survived by his daughters, Dee Basden and fiancé Mike Brown of Amarillo and Ranea Bartlett and husband Steve of Amarillo; brothers, Gene Goodson and wife Tommie of Turkey and Jerry Goodson and wife Karon of Sulphur Springs; sister, Sue Mills and husband Jody of Amarillo; grandsons, Shane Thompson of Amarillo and Chris Kimbrell of Amarillo; granddaughters, Maegan Cramer of Midland and Tara Vatole of Aurora, Colorado; his six great-grandchildren; his companion, Nadine Wheeler; also by his dogs, Possum and Tonya. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. this evening at the funeral home and will also be at 6101 Ridgewood Dr.
