She was born in Nowata, Oklahoma on June 2, 1931 to a Elsie and Lou McCullough. Martha grew up in Amarillo, and graduated from Amarillo High School. She married James Franklin Baker in 1953. They were married for 16 years until his death in 1969.
Martha was a homemaker and had 4 children whom she loved and cared for. She had many talents in crafting, quilting, needle point, and crocheting. Martha made many quilts that will be treasured by her family for years to come.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband James Baker, and daughters Dee Ann Nees and Kathryn Baker. Those left to cherish her memories are her son Jack West of Pioneer,Louisiana, daughter Cindy Sturkie and husband Mark of Amarillo; and her 7 grandchildren Shannon, Amy, Martha, John, Chris, Mary, and Preston.
