Maruja Jimenez, 86, of Big Spring, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, November 07, 2014 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 10, 2014 at 1st Church of The Nazarene with Rev. Calvary Callender officiating. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel in Amarillo, Texas with Chaplain Scott Jimenez officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park.
She was born on July 15, 1928 in Colombia. She came to the United States to Amarillo, Texas in 1964 from Colombia with a Medical Missionary Family. She left behind her family, faith, heritage and language. Her mother died in childbirth. While in Amarillo, she worked at Northwest Texas Hospital. She came to Big Spring in 2013 from Amarillo. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by one son: Scott Jimenez and wife Gloria of Big Spring; five grandchildren: Samuel Jimenez and wife Amanda of Big Spring, Sara Jimenez of Idaho, Adam Jimenez of Colorado, Nathan Jimenez of Odessa and Daniel Jimenez of Big Spring and two great grandchildren: Alia Jimenez and Luna Jimenez both of Big Spring.
