Norah was born on Jan. 5, 1935, in Ballinasloe County, Galway, Ireland, to James and Bridget Redpath. Norah immigrated to the United States in 1952. Norah and her husband and four children were traveling through Texas and they stopped in McLean, where they purchased and ran Gately’s Café until 1985. She resided in Amarillo from 1983 until her death. She worked as a cashier until 2012 and she was employed at Furr’s cafeteria for 25 years. “Nana” loved life, walking outdoors, reading books and spending time with her family. Mrs. Gately always referred to her children as “her four great children,” whom she was very proud of. She never met a stranger, and anytime she was out in public, people knew her and would always come over and talk to her. Norah was kind, loving, caring and thoughtful and would always send her family and friends the sweetest cards. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart and she will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amarillo Center for Skilled Care, BSA and BSA Hospice.
