

Norma Murphy, 84, of Amarillo, Texas, entered the gates of Heaven on October 25, 2024. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors. A graveside service will take place on Monday, October 28, at 2 PM at Llano Cemetery.
Born on December 26, 1939, in Estelline, Texas, to Y.B. and Georgia Merrell, Norma was a vibrant soul known for her infectious laughter and boundless kindness. She cherished her family and friends, bringing joy to all who knew her. An avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, she loved tackling them in ink and enjoyed her time spent on her Kindle. Norma's warm spirit and sense of humor made her a beloved mother and friend.
Norma was the proud owner and operator of Van Dykes Bar B Que and later enjoyed a fulfilling career at United Supermarket before her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Murphy; her parents; and her brothers, Monty Max and Billy Ray Merrell.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Karen Collard and husband Clifford, Cheryl Nguyen and husband Vinh; and her son, Michael Murphy. She is also survived by her brother Joe Merrell and wife Pat, her sisters Sharon Nichols and husband Robert, Brenda Wolf, Barbara Gilley, and Debbie Poe and husband Benny, along with her grandchildren Sheena Grzechowiak and husband Harold, and Robert (Robbie) Stephens, and great-grandchildren Criiztopher and Hannah Grzechowiak.
Norma will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
