Pam Pittman McDanel, age 75, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023. A memorial service for Pam will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas, with Pastor Darren Dye officiating.
Pam was born on July 30, 1947 to James Pittman and Alma Mae Lawrence, in Amarillo, Texas. Pam graduated from Tascosa High School in 1965. When she was younger, she worked as a volunteer at a nursing home in Dallas. She loved bowling, fishing at the stock ponds, swimming, playing bingo, and gambling when she got the chance. She loved going down to the coast in Port Aransas, where she enjoyed being on the beach and picking up seashells. Pam also had a knack for playing cards and always loved a good game of Wild Card Canasta and Shanghai Rummy. Every year for Christmas, Pam would donate and give to the Children's Home in Amarillo. She was very selfless and would give anyone anything in the world, especially her family. If she didn't have it, she would figure out a way to get it. Pam would also call her loved ones on their birthday and sing happy birthday to them. Pam was fiercely protective over her family and she was a force to be reckoned with when it came down to them. She always took care of her kids and loved them dearly and perfectly, and she will always be remembered by her children as the perfect example of what a Mother's true and unconditional love is.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law, R.D. Skelton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cindy Allwein, of Amarillo and Jennifer Ridge, of Gainesville, Texas; her brother, Jim Pittman and wife Virginia, of Amarillo; sisters, Norita Skelton, of Amarillo and Penny Baker and husband, Gregory, of Amarillo; her grandchildren, Jenna Allwein and Fiance, Rodney Gambrel, Amara Ridge and Fiance, Matt Christensen, and Noah Ridge; great-grandchildren, Ila Rhea, Liam Lamont, and one baby girl on the way, Maive "Maisel" Wrena; and several nieces and nephews. Pam will deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
