Tricia was born on April 6, 1947 in Sherman, Texas to the late Albert and Marie Maxell. She attended Hereford High School, and later attended West Texas A&M playing the French Horn. This is where she met her late husband, James “Jim” Larry Selman. They were married in 1967 in Hereford, Texas for almost 30 years, until Jim’s untimely death. Together they had their three beautiful children: John, Shari and Brian. Jim and Tricia enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, and were some of the original members at Trinity Fellowship Church. Most of Tricia’s career was spent as a bank auditor for the Comptroller. Tricia later met and married her current husband, Jack Bailey in 2002. Together they enjoyed participating and serving in several different groups and ministries.
Tricia was truly a faithful woman of God with a servant’s heart who loved the Lord, her family, and church. Her faith was an essential part of her life, and she dedicated much of her time to various ministries, such as the Kairos and Women’s prison and jail ministries, hospital visiting team, and Bethesda Outreach center. If you knew Tricia, you realized that her faith was genuine. From the moment she said “yes” to Christ, her hands were His hands, her life was for His glory, and her love came from His heart. Serving Him was never a burden, instead it gave her such joy and purpose. She was a true prayer warrior, continually praying for others and even prayed her own children to the feet of Jesus, so that her legacy of faith would extend to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. This may be one of her gifts that we will miss the most. She chose to love, forgive, and serve; even when her own health often suffered. She lived by the words, “To live is Christ”, and right now, she is in the only place she ever longed to be. Although she has left us, it has been comforting to think of her finally knowing the full measure of her Father’s love for her. Even now, she wouldn’t think it would be proper for us to focus on her, rather she would like to make one final plea for those who may not know Christ, to trust in Him, so that you may know His love as she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marie Maxwell; her brother, Don Maxwell; her loving husband, Jim Selman; and her current mother-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Bailey.
Tricia was blessed with an abundantly large family, in which survivors include her current husband, Jack Bailey and his siblings: Donna Kuhlman and her husband, Mike; Owen “Butch” Bailey and his wife Ramona; Kathy Fuller and her husband Ken; Patricia Parker and her husband Glenn, along with their grandkids and great grandkids. Her three children: John Selman and his wife, Rhonda; Shari Slaughter and her husband Bryan; and Brian Selman and his wife, Jennifer. Her nine grandchildren: Jessica Selman White and her husband, Jared; Johanna Selman Burnett and her husband, Bryce; Jalee Selman Reyes and her husband Bryson; Montana Selman, Bryan Cody Slaughter, Misty Slaughter, Brandon Slaughter, James Selman, and Jude Selman. Eight great grandchildren; Lincoln, Lake, Lailyn and Landrick White, Addileigh, Brylee and Rowyn Burnett, and Bryci Slaughter. Her sister, Becky Henry and her husband, David, and countless friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
