Ruby was an Amarillo native, born on December 12, 1935 to Jesse and Alberta Byars. She was one of eight children. She was a loving wife to Bobby Joe Barlow until his time of passing in 1992. Bobby Joe and Ruby had two children, Darla and Brent. After retiring from Southwestern Bell, Ruby spent her time loving her family and her church. Dedicating her life to serving God, she played an active role as a member at Beacon Baptist Church. Having five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, everyone knew her as ‘Nanny’. Ruby was known for her giving heart and unconditional love.
Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Joe Barlow, mother and father Jesse and Alberta Byars, siblings and in-laws Mona and Raymond Sharpe, Bob and Carol Shanks, Gene Tate, Rita Erdman and great-granddaughters Madison Warner and Skylie Faith Jackson.
Survivors include her children, Brent Barlow and Darla Diaz, siblings Velma Tate, Red and Lawana Denny, Tommy and Cathy Wyatt, Jerry Erdman, grandchildren Valerie Tafoya, Raymond and Tiffany Kugler, Samantha Tingley, Zach and Gabby Diaz, great-grandchildren Paiglyn Hays, Skyler Tafoya, Ruby Kugler, Steele Walker, Emelina and Zion Diaz.
Serving as pallbearers are Zach Diaz, Raymond Kugler, Skyler Tafoya, Justin Tingley, Scott Tafoya, Jared Andrews, Jeffrey Kugler and Robert Horne.
A viewing will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 East Interstate 40 Amarillo, Texas 79118 on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
