

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Pastor Jerry Davey officiating.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Directors
Visitation is Tuesday 5pm-7pm at the funeral home
Russell was born May 7, 1946 in Ormo, Wisconsin to Earl and Ioan Rice. He passed away April 11, 2014 in Amarillo. He graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Army in December of that same year. Russell served in Vietnam in the 5th Battalion 57th Artillery Unit between 1966 and 1967. Russell served his country between 1972 and 1977 in Germany where he trained on the Hawk missiles and anti-aircraft weapons. He married Lieselotte Ritzman on April 20, 1976. After his discharge Russell worked in Germany in the auto industry and as a hotel clerk. He traveled extensively in Southeast Asia and much of Europe. He loved to speak of the beauty of Europe. Russell loved crossword puzzles and telling stories. He was loved by everyone he met and will be missed by all.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lieselotte, a sister, Shirley Stoddard, and a brother, William.
Russell is survived by a daughter, Anita Byrd of Capitan, NM; a son, Gabriel Rice of Austin; 2 brothers, Patrick and Charles Rice of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Audrey Burgess of Ellsworth, Wisc. and Sue Freeman of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends from the Canyon Retirement Community.
