Teddy was such a WONDERFUL friend and co-worker! When we worked the night shift together he was the "go-to nurse" then when I moved to day shift I still thought of him as my "go-to nurse" if I had questions about ANYthing. There was never a question that I asked Teddy that he didn't know. Sometimes I would look up questions just to ask him to see if he would give the correct answer and he always did! LOL! Such an intelligent man! I often wondered why he was not a doctor or in a research lab somewhere because when you asked Teddy a question he literally broke it down to a cellular level! Many times I would have to say "hold on, start over". But one thing I can say about Teddy is that when you did ask him a question, he never criticized you, questioned your competence as a nurse, or belittled you in front of other staff and family members. He had a passion for nursing and an even bigger passion for sharing his great wealth of knowledge to everyone. I took the balloon pump class and I must honestly say it was one of the BEST balloon pump classes I have ever taken in my 4 1/2 year nursing career!

Teddy was like a big brother to me. Everytime he would see me he would say "Yo, yo, yo, Kris-tale, wassup sista from another mista". And vice verse I told him he was my "brotha from anotha motha". I really miss hearing those words from him.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Just know Teddy really loved each of you with all of his heart. He is in a much better place now and is looking down on you from the heavens up above. I pray that God gives you strength and courage in these trying times. Remember God never puts more on you than you can bare. If you need anything I am here for you. RIP Teddy! You are deeply missed....

My knowing Ted was a blessing to me, he was a wonderful person. And he touched my heart alot in the times I knew him. He always called me Auntie Carol. Made me feel good he considered me real family. Teddy was funny and good Daddy and a good Husband . He loved his Family very much. He will be dearly missed by me I love you Teddy . 
Donna, Auntie Carol loves you and misses you wish I could be there . You and the kids are in my thoughts and Prayers always if you need me you know what to do. God is watching over you my sweet niece.

Donna and the Kids, Words can never express what the loss of Teddy really means.  But know that you will continue to be in out thoughts and prayers.  I am proud to call Teddy a good friend. And he will be continually missed. I would like to take a moment and share just a few thoughts with Brandon and Kayli.  Brandon, Teddy would have been so proud of you at the funeral.  I don't believe that I could have shown such composure and strength.  It is a testament to the lessons that Teddy and Donna have taught you.  I hope that you will remember that your father was a man of integrity.  When Teddy said that he would do something, you could take it to the bank.  Teddy had a heart for those who were hurting.  And it showed in his nursing passion.  I hope that you will strive to be that kind of man.  And to Kayli, The thing that everyone always remembers about your father is that he was a man of great knowledge.  But, for those of us that knew Teddy well, he will be remembered for his humor.  There was never a dull moment when he was around.  My prayer for you is that you will always remember that your dad enjoyed life!  I also want you to know that your dad was a man of strength.  I have stood at the bedside with your dad when everything was going wrong.  And Teddy could always be counted on to be the one with the cool head, making sound and appropriate decisions.  There have been many lives that are indebted to your dad's strength.  And lastly, I hope that you will follow your dad's passion, to strive to be the best that he could be.  He was not satisfied just being where he was.  He was always seeking more knowledge through education.  I would have loved to see Teddy as a Nurse Practitioner.  He would have been great.  I know that for both of you kids, there will be many difficult days that lie in your path.  Remember that your dad taught you well and provided you with a high standard to reach for.  Put your faith in the God that Teddy served.  And know that Jesus will always be your strength and your hope.

I just wanted to express to all of Teddy's family my deepest sympathy. I was shocked when I learned of Teddy's untimely passing and it is still so hard for me to believe. I know there are no "right words" at a time like this, but I want you to know that I have been thinking of you the last few days and I'm just so very sorry. I can't even begin to imagine the grief you must be feeling.

My Dad and Teddy's Dad were best friends for over 35 years, so I have many fond childhood memories of our families taking trips to Lake Powell together. I hadn't had the opportunity to see Teddy in many, many years, but I remember that he was quite a character back in those days and he was always making my sister and I laugh. Every time my Dad would try to plan a trip with the Mitchell Family, my first question was always "Is Teddy going?". I knew that if Teddy was going to be there...we would have so much fun.

As we all expected, it sounds like Teddy did incredible things with his life and had so many accomplishments. I guess that makes it even more difficult to make sense of this. Working in healthcare myself, I have no doubt that he will live on through the countless patients he treated and all of the people he mentored throughout his career. I realize that this makes it no easier for you.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time.

I had the privaledge of working with Teddy for the last 7 years. He always came to work with a smile on his face that just seemed to make everyone around him smile too. He would take the time to help out his fellow neighbors even if he was behind on his own work. He cared enough to take the time to get to know you and ask you if you needed anything. He made sure that while I was pregnant, I had time to sit down and rest my feet while he gave my meds or watched my pts. Teddy never made you feel inadequate or incompetent in any way, no matter how many questions you asked in 1 shift. And believe me, I always hunted him out to find an answer. He was the type of person that never judged or belittled anyone, never gossiped or played favorites. He was a true man of God. I will never forget you Teddy.

Dear Brandon:

I am so proud of you for paying tribute to your father at his memorial service today. You have a lot of courage. I know Teddy was smiling at you from Heaven. I know that you will be just as goal-directed as your father. I think Teddy would probably say, "Brandon...be the best you can be! Enjoy life each day and bring joy to those around you". Teddy was one of my wifes many nurses at BSA.  We were there for 7 months in ICU in half of which my wife was in a coma.  Teddy was one of may who helped lift my spirts when I was down.  With his help and others there at BSA I still have my wife.  Thank you.  You will always be remembered.

Ted was a wonderfully funny and fantasic guy.  Many memories of him as we were several plays together in high school and many summers of fun and craziness.  My deepest heartfelt sympathies to his family.

I knew ted back in high school. My locker was right next to his and we would talk often. I will always remember the pranks we used to play on one another.  He was a great guy who always had a great sense of humor and more importantly he was a nice guy.  Not many people in that school were nice to me or spoke to me, but he was never mean to me and was always there with a smile.  He will be missed in this world.  I am Sally Austin from Lyons Colorado, and remember Teddy and my son Martin spending alot of time together going to school at Lyons Elementary.
We had 8 children and always had tons of "stuff to do" at our house!
Teddy spent many nights at our house or camping on our land which was just below their house in Lyons.
I am sorry to hear of his death...but proud to have known this man who made such a success of his life. I am sorry that it ended too soon.

You've heard the stories - from fingers in donuts before class to very poorly made, Garth Brooks-inspired videos.  You witnessed first hand the joy that Teddy brought to this world - always a smile and a good word, and his crazy upbeat attitude no matter the circumstance.  It never surprised me that Teddy became a nurse, because he loved helping everyone and he was great at it.  Words cannot express how much he will be missed.

I had the honor and privilege of having Teddy as my clinical teaching assistant with nursing students at Amarillo College. Teddy was so intelligent! I was always amazed at the things I learned from him. We worked together for four semesters in the trenches with students. He was an outstanding teacher and mentor. He could make the most difficult topics easier to understand. It was a wonderful experience working with him writing an article that was published in 2009. Teddy was highly professional and goal-directed. On a more personal note, Teddy and I shared some special moments talking about relationships, nursing, and serving humankind. He was a great nurse and even better human being who really cared about the patients he served. Most importantly he loved his family deeply. I remember Teddy telling me how grateful he was to have a loving wife and children. We also had some wonderful talks about the Lord Jesus Christ. One morning (it was about 6:00 a.m.) I arrived to the hospital for a clinical day with students. Teddy was already gathering information and paperwork for me, which is what he normally did and was so very helpful to me. This one particular morning, he stated with a big cheery smile, "Dr. Pullen...what inspirational message do you have for me today?" I replied, "Teddy...I am thankful that I'm saved by Grace". Teddy replied, "Me, too!" I look forward to seeing Teddy again when I get to Heaven so that we can continue our conversation about the Lord. Peace my friend.  Richard Pullen.
