

Thomas Noble Fowler (“Tom”), of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on February 29, 2024, at age 76. Tom was born on April 3, 1947, to Thelma Jean Paulk and Thomas James Cussen in Amarillo. After attending Allen Military School in Bryan, Texas, Tom returned to Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1964. Tom was a decorated veteran. Following his graduation, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and completed basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana and airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and the 5th Infantry Division in Fort Carson. While Tom was completing special training on amphibious assault in Pendleton, California, he was called to assist in the Vietnam War. Tom was injured in action multiple times and received two Purple Hearts for his heroic service.
Following Tom’s recovery from the Vietnam War, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso and received a Bachelor of Arts in History. He later attended West Texas A&M University and received a Master of Education Administration and Master of English as a Second Language. Tom worked in multiple school districts throughout the Texas Panhandle and served in various roles, including educator and principal. He highly valued education and enjoyed helping others.
Tom married Melva Margrave in 1978 and they had two daughters, Kari Jean and Melanie Kristine. Tom married Leslie Ann in 1986 and they had three daughters, Stephanie Ann, Lindsay Diane, and Jordan Elizabeth. Following Leslie’s death from cancer, Tom married Redawna Gaye in 2000 and welcomed her two daughters, Kortney Dawn and Keeley Taige, into their family. After 32 years serving in the school system, Tom retired and spent time traveling, golfing, and getting to know his grandkids. He was intelligent, funny, and deeply loved by his family.
Tom is preceded in death by his father: Thomas Cussen, mother: Thelma Fowler, second wife: Leslie Fowler, and granddaughter: Charlotte Price.
Tom is survived by his wife: Redawna Fowler, sister: Janis Gulde & brother-in-law Jay Nichols, sister: Sue Hudson and brother-in-law Jerry Hudson, daughter: Kari Wardlaw & son-in-law Dax Wardlaw, daughter: Melanie Matthews & son-in-law Justin Matthews, daughter: Kortney Ortiz & son-in-law Jose Ortiz, daughter: Keeley Benge, daughter: Stephanie Price & son-in-law Joseph Price, daughter Lindsay Fowler, daughter: Jordan Chavez & son-in-law Ty Chavez, grandchildren Travis, J.T., Ryley, Kristine, Keylonai, Keyson, Keylan, Trazzi, Benton, Cooper, Madeline, Cora and Gemma, and great grandsons Lucas and Prosper. Tom was a devoted Christian and member of Saint Stephen Church of Amarillo.
His memorial service will take place at Saint Stephen Church on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
