

Tom was born on December 6, 1942 in Winona, Kansas. He grew up working on his family’s farm, and graduated from Winona High School in a class of nine. He went to college at the University of Colorado, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree, and later went on to Colorado State where he obtained his Masters. On June 6, 1964 he married the love of his life, Betty Jo Calliham. Tom and Betty Jo served in the Peace Corps together in Nigeria, Africa from July 1964 to 1966.
Tom worked as a manager in various meat processing plants in Denver, Colorado, Miami, Florida and Amarillo, Texas. The couple settled in Amarillo in 1976 to raise their family. Tom was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo for over twenty years, where he served on various leadership committees. Tom enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening and working on the family automobiles. He also loved to play games and travel. Tom took his family on two week road trips every summer.
Tom was quite a craftsman. His last career before retirement was with Holland Tile and Marble. Tom learned the business and soon became an expert. When his daughter built her first home, Tom did a beautiful job installing all the tile and marble in the house.
Tom loved people. He was often known to strike up conversations with complete strangers. He loved to impress people by speaking German and Hausa, the African language in which he became fluent while in the Peace Corps.
Tom lived a life of servant hood…..serving God and fellow humans. Tom was a member of the Masonic lodge for over 50 years. He loved to host people in his home and could produce quite a bountiful spread at his dinner parties. He often volunteered to work on projects at his friend’s homes. Even in his last days at Lakeridge Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Tom blessed his fellow residents and caregivers by singing hymns.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Nealy and Bernice Yeoman, his sister Barbara Taylor and his wife Betty Jo. Tom is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Debbie Yeoman of Lubbock and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Drew Hall of Round Rock and six grandchildren: Cameron, Kayla and Dalton Yeoman and Morgan, Kennedy and Ryan Hall.
