87 years young, with a silly sense of humor, and great love and devotion for her family, we are left heartbroken in the midst of our loss. She was a generous, loving mother. Always helpful, supportive and fiercely protective, we have known a lifetime of being loved and cared for, because she was our mother.
“Le” was born on a farm in Fairmount North Dakota, April 16, 1928 and had two brothers and two sisters. By the age of 17 she was eager to leave farm life behind. She moved to town where she worked and lived at the hospital. At that time she met and married the love of her life, Donald Hanson. They had two children, Ron and Carol, and decided to move to California in 1956 to live in the “sunshine.” Although passionate about raising her family, she eventually went to work for Hughes Aircraft where she stayed for 25 years, retiring to selflessly care for her beloved husband as he battled ALS for three years, passing in 1987.
She was overjoyed with her four grandchildren and spent many adventure filled days and nights with her through their growing up and adult years. She was also blessed to have 11 great grandchildren who she loved deeply. Leona was very devoted to her church and enjoyed spending several years volunteering in various ministries.
She looked forward each day to her prayer time and the Lord, reading and meditating on His word. Such a blessing and example she was to us all in her dedicated time of worship.
Survived by her son Ron, daughter Carol, four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and brother Leo Differding, she will be greatly missed until we are reunited again for eternity.
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” Psalm 143:8
