What a joy to say that I shared a friendship with Pat for so many years.  We did some silly things...picked out flooring for my water damaged kitchen that we both came to HATE!  Giggled over it many times.  When on a shoestring budget, our big splurge was to "share" a Pepsi.  That was before we both converted to Diet Coke!  God blessed me with a dear friend that I will always remember.  Nancy Forsythe

One of my most favorite memories of Pat was when my husband Jeff & I bought our first home right next door to her. When we purchased our home, it was not in good shape - it was definitely a fixer-upper. Pat & Jerry were our next door neighbors and I won’t ever forget her determination to save our stove. I was convinced the store wasn’t saveable. It had seen better days and was just so dirty. Pat on the other hand believed it was good enough to be saved and she was going to make that happen. She came over to our house with her heavy duty stove cleaner and thick yellow gloves and went to town on that thing in the backyard. She scrubbed and cleaned it until it looked practically brand new. Pat was right and that stove was completely worth saving and I used it until we sold our house and moved away. 

Another fond memory I have of Pat was at her & Jerry’s 50 wedding anniversary party. Pat and Jerry had a beautiful renewal ceremony and then a reception following. Jeff and I had been married exactly a year on the day of their party. Well, Pat & Jerry took time out of their day and to recognize Jeff and my one year anniversary at their party and presented us with an adorable white heart shaped cake. Obviously our one year anniversary couldn’t even compare with the amazingness of their 50th wedding anniversary but the fact that they remembered us on their special day was just one more reminder of the kind and loving people Pat and Jerry were to their family & friends. 

The last memory that I would like to share about Pat was the Christmas season 2003. My husband Jeff had made her and Jerry ice cream cone ornaments when he was a kid. Well when we lived next door to Pat and Jerry that year, it was Jeff and my first Christmas in our new house and I was 8 months pregnant with our daughter Faith and Jeff decided to make them new ice cream cone Christmas tree ornaments. So we did and walked them over to them. Pat was so touched that Jeff had done that for her and you could see the love she had for him and how much it meant to her. 

Over the past 12.5 years that Jeff and I have been together, Jeff has told me on many ocassions how Pat and Jerry were like his grandparents growing up. He was lucky to have someone like Pat to be a surrogate Grandma in his life and Pat was always incredibly kind to me. Jeff and I will truly miss her and are so thankful to have been able to have known such a remarkable, kind and loving woman as Pat Manley.

Grandma, you were a wonderful, wonderful person. I am so grateful for the time we had together. Rest in peace and you will always be in my heart!!!
