In January of 1980, Patsy met the love of her life, Tomas Garcia, Jr., at a family gathering at her parents’ home. Their love grew over the years, and they were united in marriage on November 21, 1987.
Patsy was a hardworking and dedicated woman throughout her life. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, she worked as a solderer for Fender guitars at Music Man in Anaheim, California. She later devoted many years to caring for her home and family and also worked as a house cleaner for a time. Patsy eventually joined the ABC School District, where she served as a Food Services Assistant I—fondly known as a lunch lady—at Leal Elementary School in Cerritos, California for 16 years. She retired in 2022 after years of dedicated service.
Patsy was a woman full of life and love. She was beautiful, kind, caring, generous, supportive, and always ready to bring laughter to those around her. She found great joy in helping her family and friends, offering advice, and creating special moments. She loved cooking and baking during the holidays, dancing, and enjoying a margarita or a glass of wine. Patsy cherished the holidays and held a strong faith in God.
Her greatest joy was her family. She loved shopping at her favorite stores, including Target, Ross, Walmart, and the 99 Cents Store, as well as thrift shopping. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV programs such as Channel 7 News, Regis & Kelly, 20/20, Dateline, Game of Thrones, and Lifetime movies. She also loved spending time at the beach.
Patsy can best be described in four words: loving, caring, generous, and amazing.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tomas Garcia, Jr; her children, Pauline Zuniga, Hermelinda Mitchell, Manuel Garcia, and Sarah Garcia; and her cherished pets, Sheeba, Rocky, and Daisy. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Adrian Aguilar, Brianna Aguilar Zuniga, Marissa Mitchell, Jonathan Mitchell, Daniel Zuniga, Audrey Mitchell, Emeri Garcia, and Phoenix Mitchell; and her great-grandchildren: Zoey Aguilar, Jolene Aguilar, Gianna Aguilar, Kamila Carrillo, and Theanna Mitchell.
Patsy is also survived by her sister, Loretta Acosta; her brothers, Tim Acosta and Martin Acosta; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Acosta and Henrietta Acosta; her sister, Barbara Acosta; and her brothers, Manuel Marcus Acosta, Roy Acosta, and Larry Acosta.
