Sergio Huerta died on Monday, September 28, 2026, at his home in Buena Park, California, at the age of 50.
Sergio was born on June 29, 1976, the first-born son of Maria de Jesus and Jesus Huerta. He resided most his life in Buena Park California. He graduated from Buena Park High School in 1994 with a varsity letter from marching band, where he played the trumpet and advanced to drum major. At the same time, he was a member of Orange County’s distinguished Santa Ana Winds Youth Marching Band, where he performed in high-profile events. He also attended chess tournaments when younger and frequently returned with accolades.
Sergio split his time between work and his favorite pastimes, having worked many years at Pirate’s Dinner Adventure and most recently at Knott’s Berry Farm. Outside of work, Sergio loved playing video games, including Diablo and Pokémon GO. He was also a member of Paper Hero’s Games Dungeons & Dragons Adventure League in Huntington Beach. Fellow league members were quick to describe him as helpful, welcoming, friendly, inclusive, and a great person to be around. They also didn’t fail to mention his fun and goofy personality!
Sergio loved to joke around with everyone and approached life with levity. In fact, it was a challenge to get him to take anything seriously. He especially loved to joke around with his “mamma,” making voices and asking silly questions. He repeatedly asked her every day, “Mamma, donde está Cotton?” until he got the precise answer he wanted. If his “mamma” ever asked him what he wanted to eat, he always answered, “quiero pizza.” Family and friends all remember him for his fun personality. He got along best with the younger crowds, leaving lasting impressions with all the kids and young adults.
Sergio is survived by his mother, Maria de Jesus, father, Jesus, and two younger sisters, Lucy and Lisa.
