

The Honorable Colonel Walter Joseph Fisher of Fullerton, CA, formerly of Roxbury, MA, passed away surrounded by family on February 1, 2026. Beloved husband of Rose Marie Fisher (Morones). Cherished father of Mary Catherine Fisher and her husband Randy Domingo of La Habra, CA, Helen Anne Cuckler (Fisher)and her husband Michael Cuckler of Livermore, CA, Loretta Marie Beaulieu (Fisher) and her husband Paul Beaulieu of Bridgewater, MA, and Margaret Rose Fisher of Turlock, CA. Loving grandfather of Noah, Hannah and Mara Domingo-Fisher, Adella and Aaron Cuckler, and Damien, Lorelei and Felicity Beaulieu. He is also survived by his sister Anne Quinn (Fisher) of Stoughton, MA, his brother John Fisher and his wife Carol of Whitman, MA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Catherine Jane Fisher (MacRae), his father Joseph Harold Fisher, brother-in-law Bartley Quinn, sister Marie F. McSweeney (Fisher), brother-in-law Richard McSweeney, and grand-nephew Jack A. Murphy.
Colonel Fisher grew up in Roxbury, MA surrounded by family. He was able to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1965 from Northeastern University. He subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 30, 1965. He was in the U.S. Army for 29 years total, eventually receiving his position of Colonel on October 4, 1988 and retiring completely in 1994. He received his JD from Boston College Law School in 1971. He then moved to VA in 1974 to work for the Interstate Commerce Commission. In August of 1982 he moved to Fullerton, CA where he worked for the Social Security Administration as an Administrative Law Judge for 25 years before retiring in 2007.
Walter was a committed husband and father. He loved watching Boston sports games and reading books. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to talk and give thoughtful, level-headed advice for any situation. A genuine, intelligent, kind, thoughtful, witty, humble man with a dry sense of humor, Walter will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Philip Benizi Church located at 235 S. Pine Drive in Fullerton, CA 92833 on Thursday February 19th at 11am. The viewing will be held at Funeraria del Angel located at 2425 W. Lincoln Ave in Anaheim, CA 92801 on Thursday February 19 from 4-8pm. The burial will take place on February 20th at 12:45pm at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Blvd in Riverside, CA 92518.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colonel Fisher’s memory to the Parkinson's Foundation.
