

A celebration of Alfred’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at Ankeny Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Alfred Griffin White was born on October 18, 1945 in Joiner, Arkansas to Albert and Adel (Buchanan) White. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, and grew up in Arkansas until he was 16 when he moved to Milwaukee.
He received his education at Southeastern Community College before he enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country. Alfred’s faith was very important and he served as Pastor for Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, and led the choir.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Sandra White, Darrel White, Alfred White, Angela Stroup (White), Chad Stroup, and Andrew White; grandchildren, Karissa Cheney Spencer, Tristin Shenel White, Mariah LaShay White, DaVaughn Eligha White, Isaac Alexander White, Lydia Jane Stroup, Kaleb Michael White, Kiara Marie White, Brianna Kay White, Zebarious Shepherd, Krystal Thomas, Charles Thomas, Britney Thomas, Chelsea Pugh, Catrice Kennedy, and Bishop Kennedy; 27 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Arlene Burrage, Emerson White, Dan White, Robert White, and Ella Caruthers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and 7 siblings.
