Charlene Doris White Hildreth

Charlene Doris Hildreth, 81, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St., Ankeny, IA 50023). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church (206 SW Walnut St., Ankeny, IA 50023). Burial will follow services in the Lincoln Cemetery in Alleman, IA.

Charlene was born on May 13, 1934, in Polk City, IA to Robert and Doris (Fletcher) White. She graduated Ankeny High School in 1952, following graduation she married her High School sweetheart Harold “Bo Jack” Hildreth and they were blessed with three children.

Charlene owned and operated Yard by Yard Fabric Shop located on Ankeny Boulevard for many years before taking a job in administration for DMACC in Ankeny, she retired from DMACC and went on to work for Ankeny State Bank in the safety deposit department. She was a member of the Women’s club, LIFT, and the Ankeny United Methodist Church. Charlene enjoyed playing bridge, and sewing, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her loving smile, and her sweet loving demeanor.

Charlene is survived by her daughters; Carol (Ray) Peterson, Diane (David) Drake, son; Brian Hildreth, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband; Harold “Bo Jack” Hildreth, grandsons; Nickolas Hildreth, Shannon O’Connor, and her favorite dog Brown Bear.
