A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Charles was born on December 11, 1938, in Bois D’ Arc, Texas, to Willie Elbert and Emma Frances (Hickman) Day. He was the youngest of his family and carried that role with a spirit of warmth and connection throughout his life. He graduated from McKinney High School in 1956, where he was an avid football player and known as the glue that held his team together throughout his life.
Following high school, Charles attended Navarro Junior College, where he met the love of his life, Ruby Ann Foley. The two were united in marriage on November 27, 1958, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 65 years. Together, they built a loving family and were blessed with three children: Phillip, Lisa, and Jace.
Charles dedicated his entire professional life to banking, beginning as a teller and steadily working his way up to become a Bank President. His career was marked by integrity, leadership, and a deep commitment to his community and his beloved employees. He retired in 2005 after many years of faithful service. He also served as President of the Garland Chamber of Commerce, where he contributed his time and leadership to supporting local businesses and community growth.
Outside of his career, Charles found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished time spent on his property in Princeton, Texas, where he raised horses and enjoyed the outdoors with family. He and Ann shared a love for travel and explored destinations around the world together. In retirement, Charles could often be found on the golf course in Alto, New Mexico, enjoying the game and the friendships it brought.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Day; his daughter, Lisa Conoly (2000); his grandson, Ryan Day (2010); his siblings, Billy Day and Dixie Majors; and his parents, Willie and Emma Day.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Phillip (Cathy) Day of Princeton, Texas, and Jace (Julie) Day of Ankeny, Iowa; as well as 9 grandchildren, 13 and 3/4 great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Charles will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the legacy of kindness and dedication he leaves behind.
