Denis K. Applebee, 68, peacefully passed away on January 27, 2016, from complications arising from lung cancer. Denis was born on April 10, 1947, to Claryce and Rex Applebee. The family moved a few times settling in Lincoln, NE. Denis graduated from Lincoln High School, joined the National Guard, married and took every opportunity to enjoy his family, friends and life. Denis retired in 2009, moved to Ankeny in 2012, splitting his time between golf, reverse mortgage counseling and working part time in the vault at Home Depot.
Denis is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kathy, his daughter Keri Applebee (Tom Ahlschwede) grandsons Jakob and Nikolas and daughter Tesha Bender (Branden) grandsons Daxx and Beaux, and step son Trevor Zastro. Denis has one sister, Robin Beilby (George) 3 nieces, nephew in law and a grandnephew. Denis was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held in Lincoln, NE; Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials made me made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
