Gwendolyn L Boulter

Gwendolyn L. Boulter, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Vintage Hills in Ankeny, Iowa. Graveside services will take place at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Berwick Cemetery (Ne 62nd Avenue Ankeny, IA 50021). Memorial contributions may be directed to Suncrest Health and Hospice, 5000 Westown Pkwy Ste 104, West Des Moines, IA 50266.

Gwendolyn Laurie was born on August 9, 1934, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Lawrence Theodore and Gwendolyn Anna Josephine (Bunch) Wahlstrom. She graduated from Burlingame High School, California in 1952. Gwendolyn was united in marriage to Gordon Schwarz on August 2, 1952 in Reno, Nevada. They welcomed two children: Shirley and Lawrence. Gwendolyn was known as being an amazing hostess and cook. She always loved to bring the family together for reunions. Gwendolyn was a Girl Scout leader for Shirley’s troop for 12 years and kept score for Larry’s little league team for many seasons. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping. Gwendolyn stayed at home to raise her two children and then purchased her own travel agency, Travel Affairs, which she ran for 10 years. Gordon passed away on October 31, 1986. She was then married to Bruce Boulter on June 28, 1991. Bruce and Gwen were active members of the Fountain Valley Methodist Church. In 2004, they moved to Delta Colorado where they planned to enjoy their retirement years. Bruce passed away on October 7, 2006. Gwen moved to Ankeny in 2007, living at Mill Pond prior to settling in at Vintage Hills. She attended many of the activities at Vintage during her years there.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Shirley Ybarra of Ankeny and Lawrence (Diane) Schwarz of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Amber (Michael) Thomsen, Christine (Eric) Foy, Shanna (Kyle) Henry, Alycia (Chris) Cole and Nick (Christina) Schwarz; and great-grandchildren: Seth, Charlie, Alexis and Tenley Thomsen, Ellen Foy, Deacon, Gracelynn and Luke Henry, Scottlyn Cole and Ivan Schwarz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Shirley Mae, husband, Gordon Schwarz and husband Bruce Boulter.
