

Harold Robert “Bob” Swartz Sr., 84, died peacefully November 2, 2021, at Courtyard Estates of Edencrest in Pleasant Hill. He was born on September 6, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to Harold Sheldon and Margaret Mettler Swartz. Harold has one sister, Janice Bryant of Williamsburg, Virginia.
In 1969, Harold met and courted Eloise Jeffers Swartz. They married on June 7, 1970. They initially settled in Cheltenham, Maryland before moving to Stephens City, Virginia. Here they raised their two children, Jennifer Lynn Oldham of Nampa, Idaho and Harold Robert Swartz Jr. of Ankeny, Iowa.
Having completed his high school degree, Harold entered into a journeyman program to become a pressman. He worked for McCall’s magazine, the Communication Corporation of America in Luray, Virginia, and the Winchester Star in Winchester, VA. Harold was a dedicated and hard worker. He loved God, his family and Christ’s church.
Harold served as an elder at the Southside church of Christ in Winchester, Virginia for nearly twenty years. He wanted to live and serve as an example of what godly living, parenting and Christianity was to be. His jovial spirit, positive energy and love for others was contagious.
Harold is survived in death by his wife, Eloise J. Swartz, his sister, Janice Bryant, his two children, Jennifer Lynn Oldham and Harold R Swartz Jr, his six grandchildren, Chelsea, Matthew and Michael Franklin and Cassandra, Camille and Cooper Swartz.
