Janice Kay Manning

Janice Kay Manning, age 77, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 2, 1945, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Thomas and Glenda Walters.

Janice graduated from Ottumwa High School, and at that time had an opportunity to be an Olympic archer. During her adult years, she lived in Texas and Louisiana, before settling in Iowa where she worked for Karl Chevrolet until her retirement. Jance was a very talented hand-quilter and won first place at the Iowa State Fair six years ago.

Janice had so much love in her heart, that she was known as a "mom" to lots of kids. She went above and beyond the call of parent duty when she supported HIV patients within the neighborhood. She made sleeping bags and provided them love and support when their families would not.

She enjoyed dancing and going to Vegas with her sister Sondra to gamble. She has survived by her daughter, Heather, and her three grandchildren Finn, Gemma, and Van Zain; her sisters, Sandra Jones, and Barbara; sister-in-law, Barbara Crooks; and 7 nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Sean Manning. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for future designation.
