June Johnson Nyman

June Johnson Nyman, 95, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at Urbandale Healthcare Center. Visitation will be from 9-10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2016, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St. Ankeny, IA 50023). Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, following the visitation at Ankeny Funeral Home. Following a luncheon after the services burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, IA.

June was born September 21, 1920 to Nick and Fleta (McClemmons) Johnson in Des Moines, IA. She graduated from East High School in 1939; and later attended Bernell Hair Styling School in Ames, IA in the 60’s. June worked at Meredith Publishing until she was united in marriage to Ken Nyman; they then moved to Boone, IA. Ken passed away July 18, 1968. She raised 3 children: Garrett, Mike and Marcia. After her husband’s death, June moved to Des Moines and worked for Allied Insurance until her retirement.

June was a member of Miller United Methodist Church in Des Moines, where she sang in the church choir. She was also in the Boone Brush and Pallet Club. June enjoyed quilting and cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family.

June is survived by her sons: Garrett (Wanda) Nyman of Cottage Grove, OR and Mike (Rhonda) Nyman of Ankeny; and a daughter, Marcia Nyman of Ankeny; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Mildred and brother, Boyse.
