Kasia Knapp

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Katarzyna Dowhan was born in Wroclaw, Poland on October 26, 1969 to Piotr and Maria Dowhan. She grew up in Poland until the age of 14 when her family ventured to Ankeny, Iowa. She continued her education and attended Ankeny High School (Class of 1988). Kasia graduated as a Registered Nurse at Des Moines Area Community College and worked as a nurse for several years. Kasia then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in General Business from Drake University.

On June 3, 2000 Kasia was united in marriage to Thomas James Knapp. The couple made a home in Ankeny and have been blessed with three children, Paul, Ela, and Malina. Kasia had a passion for volunteering and donating to many children’s charities in the metro. She also enjoyed her two West Highland Terriers, “Valentine” and “Daisy”, and her cat, “Ashes”. Most of all Kasia loved being with her family and held a special place for them all in her heart.

Kasia will be deeply missed by her husband, Tom; children, Paul, Ela, and Malina Knapp; parents, Piotr and Maria Dowhan; brother, Tom (Rachel) Dowhan; and nephew and niece, Kyle and Emily Dowhan. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
