Linda Lou Lyons

Visitation will be at the Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St., Ankeny, IA 50023) Sunday, December 14, from 4-6:00pm. A funeral service will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines St., Ankeny, Iowa 50023) Monday, December 15 at 10:30am.

Linda graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1956. On July 1, 1956 Linda and Robert John Lyons were married at Christ EUB Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

They were the parents of four children: Deborah Lynn, Robert David, Kevin Daniel, and Derek Andrew.

Linda loved time in the outdoors, especially fishing and golfing. She especially loved trips to Northern Minnesota. She also loved playing cards and genealogy research. When a member of Ankeny United Church of Christ, she was active in the Peace and Justice Committee. As a member of Ankeny Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, she was active and served on various committees. Linda was a member of Ankeny New Hope Chapter #513, Order of The Eastern Star.

Linda was proud of her German and Swiss Heritage on her fathers side, and her Scot-Irish, English, Irish ancestry from her mother. The fact that her family on her mother’s side have been in the New World for 350 years.

Linda retired from The State of Iowa, DDS in 2003.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brothers Robert and Edward, sister in law Virginia, and nephew Mike Mills.

Linda is survived by her children, Deborah Lyons, Ankeny, Robert David (Vicki), Des Moines, Kevin Daniel (Stephanie), Ankeny, and Derek Andrew (Jessica) Ankeny. Her sister in law, Elaine zumBrunnen, Ft. Collins, Colorado, niece Nancy (Ray) Schultz, Ft. Collins, Colorado and nephew Craig zumBrunnen, El Paso, Texas. Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
