A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Michael Patrick Harkey was born March 22, 1965, in Dubuque, Iowa to Ron and Sandra (Canfield) Adams. He grew up in both Dubuque and Ankeny where he received his education.
Michael was a people person and enjoyed attending concerts, camping, and eating out at various restaurants. He was also an avid sports fan following the Washington Redskins, and could often be seen at the Iowa Barnstormers and Iowa Energy games. Most of all, Michael loved spending time with Ryan, Justin, and his pet terrier mix, Chelsey.
Michael will be deeply missed by his sons, Ryan Harkey and Justin Harkey; parents, Ron and Sandra Adams and Jerry McCurdy; siblings, Jenny Sylvester, Ray Stralow, and Sherman Jett; and a large extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle; brother, Raymond; and sister, Jamie.
